St Mark’s is a successful, happy and welcoming rural primary school serving the children of Natland, the Oaks, Oxenholme and beyond. The most recent Ofsted inspection report (January 2017) judged St Mark’s to be a good school. The opening paragraph of the report states,
The winged lion, symbol of St Mark, represents the strength we can all find in God combined with the potential to achieve great things and ‘soar on wings like eagles.’
Our current development priorities are:
Growing more confident in our knowledge of and ability to recall basic maths facts
Making sure everyone, including teachers, parents and children know and understand the learning and standards expected of them in each year group
Ensuring that the most effective additional support is given to the right children at the right time, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and those receiving the Pupil Premium Grant (PPG)
Improving the quality of teaching and learning in RE following the introduction of a new syllabus
Developing new ways to promote spiritual development across the school

We currently have seven single age classes: Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6.
