News Update

Congratulations to everyone involved in the Torchlight procession this year. We won the award for best visual impact with our lively mint cake factory inspired theme.

Well done to the Rock Monster team from last year’s Year 6. Their business idea caught the eyes of the national Fiver Challenge judges who awarded them the prize for Best Team in the 9- 11 age category. The team enjoyed an all expenses trip to London and were presented with their award during a ceremony at a prestigious hotel in Piccadilly.

The PTA organised a very enjoyable wine tasting evening early in the term. The guests sat down to snacks supplied by Riverbank catering and sampled 6 different wines chosen, provided and presented by staff from Stainton Wines in Kendal. Many people then made purchases of wines they had particularly enjoyed. In all £220 was raised for PTA funds in support of school.

We have had a run of fundraising activities:

Everyone wore denim to raise awareness of inherited medical conditions on Jeans for Genes day, £160 was collected. Our thanks got to Sienna Scott for requesting and making posters for this event.

Year 4 planned and ran a very successful coffee morning in aid of Macmillan cancer care which raised over £360.

Children across the school are currently working hard at home to fill tubes with cash for good deeds in aid of the work of Child.org, our Harvest charity providing gardening tools and training to primary aged children in six different African countries.
